Karori renovation, 2021. Beauchamp street.

Jo, Beauchamp street, Karori.

We chose Jay and Square Edge Construction for a renovation of bedrooms and bathrooms at our 1928 bungalow. We were immediately impressed with Jay’s intelligent approach to the architectural designs and engineering plans and once he started work, we knew we’d made the right choice. Jay’s skills and superior workmanship were evident and it was clear he took great pride in his work. His experience meant there was no problem for which he could not find a satisfactory solution. We also appreciated his excellent communication throughout the project with weekly reports on work completed and work to come. Thoughtful, good-humoured, and deeply professional, it was a pleasure working with Jay. Not only do we love the spaces he has created for us, we also have great memories of the process. Jay is one of the good ones!

This project was another memorable experience. The clients were (and still are) amazing to work with. Before the contract started, we picked up some discrepancies and clashes which made some areas of the plans expensive to build and didn’t make sense from a practical point of view.

The clients were ok with me engaging their architect with them to discuss some design changes. The clients chose their architect well as she was incredibly understanding from our point of view and worked with us to catch these issues early, and catch some last minute fires.

We provided custom made cavity sliders to match the existing doors and also provide bracing.

Crown joinery worked with us and designed a custom bay window that we engineered to remove the need for extensive support structures that were proposed by the main design engineers.

As a whole team (clients included), everyone worked seamlessly together to bring this project in to perfection.
