Jae, director, lead builder.
“This isn’t a job for me, building is my way of life. I love it, good and the bad”.
After becoming qualified in carpentry, it was time I put my own mark on the construction industry providing high level communications, highly detailed workmanship and a need to advance my skillset, never being afraid to try new things, experiment with new technologies and learning old carpentry techniques long forgotten to service villas and tackle complex timber carpentry repairs.
I thrive on the trickiest projects this industry and this region has to offer, right down to the smallest detail.
I’ve been lucky in my career to be a part of nearly every aspect of construction. Ranging from leading a team and being part of building billion dollar commercial projects in the deep south building gigantic freezers, earthquake strengthening high rises, bar and restaurant fit outs, quick turn small renos to high end heavily complex design and build projects.
I’m incredibly passionate about building and how it helps me, my family, friends and clients in our everyday lives. Anyone that knows me will tell you even in my spare time I love to build and innovate. Tinkering with different techniques, trying new systems, anything to bring more to the table for our business and to our clients.
I look at every hurdle as a way of upskilling, I’m not afraid to try something new, or create new techniques, or take something from another industry and find a way to use it here.
When I’m not building, you’ll find me on a mountain bike rolling around the hills of Wellington, or with a fishing rod in my hand feeding the fish.
Quintin
Our apprentice builder Quintin brings fresh perspective to our team and an opportunity to hone our skills in teaching carpentry skills.
He enjoys the challenge of learning to build, and the skills it will give him for the rest of his life.
He loves learning new skills, helping people upskill their rēo, being part of his local rugby club and enjoys spending time with his family.
In his spare time he enjoys his family and friends time, taking each days as it comes letting any opportunity come his way.
Sydney.
Sydney is our qualified builder that adds a wealth of knowledge to our company.
Her experience ranges from multi-plex commercial construction, with one of the most well known high level commercial firms in Wellington, renovations throughout her apprenticeship in the residential sector, to starting her own construction company and tackling the fine detail work that requires patience, skill and a willingness to self learn. She has an enthusiasm and excitement for carpentry, and has a keen understanding that most of the times you have to figure the details out. There is no on paper solution. It’s up to the limitations of your mind. As she has proven with her partner completely re-building a live-on boat with no boat building experience.
When Sydney isn’t building, she’s raising her young son, you’ll find her tramping with her family, finding any excuse for adventure.
